My approach to therapy is holistic, relational, and solution focused. I use my life and professional experience to help people feel valued and understood. We will talk about the challenges you face in a safe, relaxed, nonjudgmental space. I will guide and help you discover ways to overcome the barriers that keep you from flourishing. I believe entering therapy is an act of self-care and the path to improving our lives and relationships, not only with others, but with ourselves.
Being a teacher for over 10 years started my passion for helping individuals understand their feelings and learn new skills for coping. I would help parents navigate challenging home situations and would often talk with coworkers about how to find balance between work and their personal lives. I later found my niche in education as a school counselor and now counsel and help individuals in the private therapy setting.
I am a certified and trained school counselor and teacher. I have served as a 504 coordinator at the elementary and middle school levels. I have worked in the school system for around 18 years, working collaboratively with parents and educators. I have been trained in TBRI-Trust Based Relational Intervention, abuse, neglect, domestic violence, self-harm, and how to support those that have experienced grief, trauma, and divorce. I have worked with children, adolescents, and individuals with anxiety, depression, ADD, ODD, learning disabilities, self-esteem issues, and relationship issues. In addition, I have experience helping those that are making challenging life transitions, coparenting situations, and those struggling to manage stress and everyday life challenges.
As a mom myself, I know how difficult it can be to juggle all the responsibilities of life and, at the same time, enjoy the journey. It’s easy to get lost in the chaos, if we aren’t careful. I believe in the power of our thoughts and words and that creating balance in all areas of our lives is essential for our wellbeing. Experiencing many life transitions, myself, have brought me through stronger and wiser on the other side of it. With help and support, each one of us can use the challenges in our lives to create change and write a new narrative.
I enjoy doing all things outdoors, travel, and spending time with my family, friends, and our three dogs. I love getting out to see live music in Austin, being on the lake, discovering new trails on my mountain bike, and getting to the mountains to ski several times a year. I’m equally into health and wellness, cooking, being creative, working on home projects, and taking time to relax by watching plenty of funny shows and movies.
