My approach to therapy is relational. I believe the therapeutic relationship is extremely important and my desire is to create a safe, non-judgmental environment for you to be yourself and share your story.
I have always been a “helper” and knew that I wanted to help and encourage others in whatever career I chose. Counseling gives me the ability to connect with people in all different walks of life. Helping individuals walk through life changes, work through emotions and seeing them meet their personal goals is what keeps me interested in my job every day.
I am EMDR trained and have attended conferences on Perinatal Mental Health and Wellness. EMDR is an effective treatment to cope with, and move forward from, traumatic experiences. I have always been interested in adoption and EMDR is popular for this population. I am trained in Postpartum Mental Health and enjoy working with moms and their families as they navigate pregnancy and the changes that come with it.
I have an extensive background, prior to my counseling career, working with adolescents so I am comfortable and familiar with many of the topics teenagers encounter. I also offer Christian counseling if that is something that you desire to incorporate into therapy.
I love to spend time with my family and friends - mainly with my husband exercising or walking our yellow lab. We also enjoy the outdoors and traveling.
