HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR APPROACH TO THERAPY?

I have worked with adults exploring a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, low self-worth, family of origin dynamics, and trauma. I have done a lot of work with young adults and college-age students, but I enjoy doing work with adults of all ages! I also like working with couples and am deeply committed to fostering understanding, communication, and healing within the relationship. I describe my approach as warm and nonjudgmental where I integrate humor and empathy into the session to create a safe and comfortable environment. I strive to create a place where you can be heard and accepted unconditionally.

WHAT LED YOU TO BECOME A COUNSELOR?

I have always been interested in human behavior and loved human connection. Becoming a counselor has allowed me to blend my genuine desire to help others with my fascination of the human mind. I started working with people when I was 17 at my first job in a restaurant. I realized then that I wanted to keep working with people in whatever I did next. Besides doing therapy, I've also spent about ten years working in restaurants. This unique background has greatly enriched my ability to connect with people and understand their needs, and I've cherished the lessons it has imparted on me. As I reflect on my own experiences and journey, I've come to realize the profound impact that supportive and compassionate guidance can have on one's well-being.

WHAT TRAININGS HAVE YOU COMPLETED AND HOW DO THEY RELATE TO YOUR IDEAL CLIENT?

I believe that as therapists we should never stop learning because our field is constantly changing. I have completed training in trauma-informed care, suicidal ideation, domestic violence, mindfulness techniques, and am a certified Prepare/Enrich premarital counseling facilitator. The training I've received has shaped me into the therapist I am today, blending knowledge with empathy to address various concerns. I'm eager to pursue further education and expand my skills through additional training in the near future!

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE YOUR CLIENTS TO KNOW?

In therapy I am passionate about helping my clients understand what is going on in their mind and body to help them release the shame they are carrying for whatever reason they are in therapy. We will explore at your own pace and I will never ask you to share information you are not comfortable doing so. My hope is that as we get to know each other over time, there will be a natural progression of self-disclosure. I want to follow your lead by exploring your goals for therapy, not my own. I value communication and ask that my client communicates what they need and how comfortable they are throughout the therapeutic process. I am committed to creating a therapy room that promotes anti-racism, accountability, and inclusivity for all my clients.

PERSONAL NOTE - WHAT DO YOU LOVE TO DO IN YOUR FREE TIME?

When I am not working, I am usually checking out different restaurants around the city! If I am not out exploring, I will usually be curled up on the couch with my cats watching a new documentary or reading a book. I love to bring out my creative side through projects, painting, and embroidery!
